Emergency Appointments

Non-urgent advice: Dear Patients

We have listened to your views and will be changing our on the day emergency doctor appointments.

We have at least one clinician in the morning and one clinician in the afternoon who has capacity to deal with emergencies on the day. We will now make all of those appointments available to book from 8am in the morning. The receptionist will ask you for a brief description which helps the doctor to prioritise (triage) the emergency cases on the day. Each case will be called by the doctor. If a face to face appointment is needed, the doctor will advise you which time to attend.

Depending on when you call, you will either be placed on the morning list which runs from 08h30 until 12h30, or the afternoon list which runs from 14h00 until 18h00. You will be able to choose between the morning list and the afternoon list.

Please ensure you are available to speak to the doctor and come in during your chosen session. There will be no opportunity to add you to the afternoon list if you are not able to attend in the morning but have asked for the morning session.

Non-urgent advice: Please note

There is a finite capacity for both the morning and the afternoon sessions to ensure we can safely manage each patient.

If the reception team advises that we are full you have the following options:

  1. Send us a digital request via our website (it’s now called PATCHs – scroll down to find it)
  2. Contact 111 (we have to hold some appointments back each day which can only be booked the NHS 111 service)
  3. Attend an Urgent Care Centre
  4. Attend the emergency department in the event of an accident or emergency
